Packing checklist
Weekend trip packing checklist
A weekend bag should make the trip easier, not become another thing to manage. This checklist covers the essentials for a typical two or three-night break while leaving room for destination-specific items.
Clothing
- One comfortable travel outfit and one spare daytime outfit.
- An evening option that works with the same shoes and outer layer.
- Underwear and socks for each day, plus one spare set.
- Sleepwear and weather-appropriate outerwear.
- Swimwear, walking shoes, or activity clothing only when the itinerary requires it.
Documents and money
Pack your passport or required identification, booking confirmations, payment cards, travel insurance details, and any tickets that are not stored reliably in an app. Save offline copies of important documents and the accommodation address.
Toiletries and medication
Use travel-size containers for the products you genuinely use. Pack prescription medication in suitable packaging, along with basic pain relief and any personal medical essentials. Keep cabin-liquid restrictions in mind when flying.
Electronics
- Phone, charging cable, and plug.
- Power bank for travel days or navigation-heavy trips.
- Headphones and any watch or camera chargers.
- Travel adapter when the destination uses a different socket.
A five-minute final check
Check the weather, transport details, baggage allowance, and accommodation facilities. Remove duplicate clothing and anything supplied by the hotel. Put documents, medication, chargers, and one clean layer where they remain accessible during the journey.
For international breaks, continue with the travel adapter guide. Families can use the more detailed family holiday packing list.
